Aging in place “the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level.”
The home is designed with the future in mind. Planning for any possible outcome of old age, each room is wheel chair accessible and set up for whatever life may bring. This was a full house remodel and decorating.
- The kitchen has raised toe kicks, a safe induction cooktop and lower countertops.
- The bathrooms have roll in showers, enough room for a wheel chair. And additional structure is in place in the walls if there is ever the need for grap bars.
- All hallways, circulation and around furniture has 4′ of space giving plenty of room for a wheel chair.
- Doorways are extra wide.
- Faucets, handles and light switches are all levers making it easier to operate.
